POLICE are appealing for information after the theft of two unusual bicycles from a home in Cheltenham.

The Big Mo 'chopper' style bikes were left insecure in the front garden of a home in Milne Walk, and were stolen between 3.25pm and 5pm on January 9.

Both bikes have a back wheel thicker than the front wheel, that looks like a motorbike wheel. They have large handle bars and a longer seat than normal.

One of the bikes is red and silver, while the other is black and silver.

Each bicycle is worth about £60.

If you have any information about the thefts, or have been offered the bikes for sale, contact Gloucestershire Police at 101 and quoting incident number 285 of January 9. You can also give information anonymously by contacting the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via www.crimestoppers-uk.org and you may receive a reward if someone is arrested and charged.

.... Left insecure in a location that many in Cheltenham deem as 'less desirable' so what did they expect ? I would feel sorry if they had locked them up like @Sarah had, but I have no time for people that leave stuff unlocked and wonder why it's missing. Stolen between 3.25pm and 5pm so they left them unlocked outside, probably nice looking 'unique and rare' bikes, for over an hour and a half.....

Quite, raidermanuk Being insecure is no excuse for the scumbag thief / thieves to help themselves to somebody else's property, but the owners haven't helped themselves, have they?

Secure on not, it's still on your own property and it's unfair to have things stolen. Bike crime in Cheltenham is a massive problem, and one the police seem to have very little control over it. We had nearly £2,000 of bike stolen from our "secure" back garden at 6pm in the evening whilst we were in the living room over looking the garden!! The nerve of these people who know the worth of high end mountain bikes and they'll go to any length to get them. We had to spend most evenings on gumtree and eBay hoping the bike would reappear, and when it did it took days of continual phoning the police for any action to be taken. For anyone who rides around Cleeve and known mountain bike trails in the area, be VERY careful of who is following you home. Bikes are being followed home and stolen that evening or at a later stage.
