WITH the Grand National fast approaching, The Sun’s tipster Steve Mullen reckons Long Run will get the nod in what he believes will be a wide open race this year. Burton Port is also in with a chance, he says, and despite being 13 years old, his third horse Tidal Bay has run some of the best races of his career in the past couple of years and will carry some of his cash today.

Peter Scudamore has told The Mail that Teaforthree looks a strong jumper and galloper and has all the right credentials to better his third place finish in last year’s race. The improved jumping of 2013 Welsh National Winner Monbeg Dude makes him a contender and Long Run is in outstanding form and Scudamore says he is extremely well weighted but believes he is a shadow of his former years.

Michael Owen has told the Mirror Teaforthree is his top tip for this year’s race, while Mike Triffitt, head of Antre Post Football, says JP Macmanus’ Double Seven is a confident pick. Neal Kidd, the paper’s head of creative, is also going for Monbeg Dude which has been taught how to jump by Zara Phillips over the last year.
