With its frameless doors, avant-garde coupé design and world-leading aerodynamics, it's hardly surprising that Mercedes-Benz of Cheltenham & Gloucester is getting set for an influx of enquiries following the announcement of the sleek CLA-Class.

The CLA is certain to strike a chord with customers of the Staverton Retailer, especially as it adopts the design of the Concept Style Coupé show car that thrilled Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts last year.

Rarely is a series production car as close to a show car as the CLA is to the Concept Style Coupé, and Mercedes-Benz of Cheltenham & Gloucester customers are destined to find out that the CLA is every bit as advanced as its cutting-edge, free-flowing exterior features suggest.

Beneath its athletic yet elegant body, which contributes to a Cd value of as little as 0.23, the CLA is awash with the latest Mercedes-Benz technology. Features include myriad driving assistance systems, a choice of two sporty chassis and suspension set-ups, multimedia infotainment system with available iPhone® integration, and a range of powerful yet efficient petrol and diesel engines.

Notably, the CLA boasts collision prevention assist with adaptive brake assist as standard – a radar-based braking system which is able to warn the driver of an obstacle from a speed of 4mph and initiate precision braking when the driver steps on the brake pedal.

Available with displacements of 1.6- and 2.0-litres, the petrol engines encompass the 122hp CLA 180 through to the 211hp CLA 250. The two diesels combine exemplary efficiency with dynamic low-end torque, for example the CLA 220 CDI returning as much as 67.3mpg (combined) yet its 350Nm of torque allowing it to sprint from 0-62mph in only 8.2 seconds. The CLA 220 CDI also has CO2 emissions as low as 109g/km, while all engines come with the ECO start/stop function as standard and either a six-speed or 7G-DCT dual clutch transmission.

"The CLA follows the exciting design idiom of the latest Mercedes-Benz and evolves the four-door coupé design of the incredibly stylish and popular CLS-Class," said Paul Simpson, general sales manager at Mercedes-Benz of Cheltenham & Gloucester.

"It represents a completely new segment in middle-size cars and we are very excited about its announcement, as the CLA really will bring something completely different to our showroom and the roads. We would be delighted to share more details of the CLA with customers and invite them to contact us for more details."

nice ad, but if the doors are frameless, what holds the glass?
