FURRY faced firefighters in Gloucestershire are piling their weight behind a county campaign for more research into men’s cancers and mental health this month.
Gloucestershire Airport Fire Fighters are taking part in a moustache marathon by surrendering their clean shaven image and taking part in ‘Movember’.
Staff are getting sponsored for their efforts to be donated to cancer charities, raising the profile of prostate and testicular cancer.
Fire fighter Marc Innes said: “I feel strongly about raising awareness about men’s cancer and if we can raise some money along the way it is even better.
“The team at the airport are always keen to support charities when we can and this seemed an ideal opportunity.”
Business Development Manager at the airport, Kim Davenport said: “I think this is great although after winning the Best General Aviation Airport Award last week, I am hoping we will continue to look good throughout November.
“The fire fighters help at the Citywing Check in desk with the Isle of Man passengers and I am hoping our customers are not put off by the new unshaven look.”
