After a good two weeks of indulgence over Christmas and New Year, now is the time to pay.
Christmas is generally a period of weight gain and in January many people look to join a gym.
Losing weight, however, is often only half the problem as joining a gym that suits you, is reasonably priced and nearby, can be tricky.
We have compiled a list of some of the packages offered by gyms in Cheltenham and Gloucester.

LA Fitness in Cheltenham is offering a special 2014 Resolution deal for new members
Leisure@Cheltenham in Tommy Taylors Lane.
The leisure centre is offering 20 per cent off their usual price of £33.60 per month, this price is for a non-contracted membership.
A 12-month membership works out to be £28 a month.
In addition to this 20 per cent discount, Leisure@Cheltenham have also discarded its joining fee for new customers saving customers £29.
The leisure centre offers 60 classes a week and 80 pieces of gym equipment.
The Gym Cheltenham, at 292 High Street.
The Gym is offering a three-month deal for £45 instead of the usual price of £20 a month.
In addition to this, new customers will also receive two free sessions with a personal trainer, as well as no joining fee.
Simply Gym in Wymans Lane in Cheltenham.
Simply have not released any new deals so far for January. It is still offering their standard price of £16.99 a month as well as a £20 joining fee.
In terms of the size, the gym offers 170 pieces of equipment and 40 classes per week.
Virgin Active has two sites in Barnwood and Brockworth.
The gym is offering 12 months for the price of 11, with the cost of £45 per month but no joining fee.
In terms of size, the gym offers 53 classes on top of their gym equipment.
GL1 is located on Bruton Way, Gloucester.
It is offering its basic rate on peak membership at £39. This membership includes free access to two gyms, racquet sports and the swimming pool. In addition to this, the joining fee is £30 however included in that fee is a free £100 Myzone belt. However, the basic membership requires a three-month payment. In terms of size, it has two gyms and offers 60 plus classes a week.
Having joined the gym and have attended once, the trick then is to keep going and not let that money go to waste.
Personal trainer Dan Fivey said: “Make sure you are realistic when arranging your gym appointments, don’t optimistically force them into a too busy schedule or else it will be counterproductive.
“Make sensible appointments and treat them like a job and you will reap the benefits.”
