Gloucester Quays has provided a tantalising glimpse at how things might look there in the future.

An epic Hollywood-style trailer for the outlet shopping centre has been made by bosses at Peel, its owners.

With a soaring, orchestral score and gritty voiceover, viewers are shown how far the site has come since its development.

"Once there was a time when no-one would venture here, when all seemed lost," it says, over images of the grotty eyesore that lay there before.

"Out of the desolation, came hope," it adds, over shots of bustling shoppers and packed restaurants.

Towards the end, a snapshot of the future is given, with artist's impressions of plush new flats and stores fronting onto the canal.

Jas37, i do agree with you... Still lots to do in the City Centre to capitalise on the Docks redevelopement. Its a slow boat to china, but a boat that shouldn't be allowed to falter.

Then report the spam, rather than ranting at the spammer, who already has a new identity.

Jemmywood, I must admit I missed your little winky. Good to see that you have now got over me "insulting you" a few weeks ago and to see that we actually agreed on something the other day. Does this also mean that you perhaps even agree with my comment below- agreeing twice would certainly be a turn up for the books. -GlosAnarchy- Hopefully City centre traders will up their efforts to make the most of the additional people drawn into the City centre. The New County are in a prime spot and have clearly made an effort to make the place appear much more inviting.

Jemmywood, Could you elaborate please. There are clearly far fewer vacant shop units in the City centre than there were a couple of years ago, Charity shops have proliferated in High streets all over the UK. I have not researched the subject in detail but I would be surprised if Gloucester had more than an average quota of them. There are many Town centres that have faired far worse than Gloucester in recent years. Newport (South Wales) Centre is a prime example. Shopping centres with row after row of empty shops, their Bus station makes ours look impressive. Considering that there has been no major investment in the Primary Shopping area for decades and that Cheltenham (and Cribbs) has sucked the money out of the area for years the City Centre's perhaps in a better state than could be expected. Stanhope are sounding very upbeat regarding the King's Quarter development, this should make a huge difference. Do you not agree? And what are your thoughts on this particular report/subject?

It appears that all of the doom and gloom Merchants that were predicting that the Quays would be either closed down by now or full of charity shops have disappeared. I wonder why that could be?

I take it from the picture that they will be opening up the Sud Brook to create the extra barge moorings as in the opening picture, but all looks great to me.
