FOUR drivers in the Hucclecote area have landed themselves fines because they were not wearing seatbelts and were using their mobile phones.

The fines were issued by officers from Gloucestershire police in an operation yesterday.

Police officers also gave each of the drivers advice about the dangers of driving without wearing their seatbelt.

They also ran home the message that using a mobile phone whilst driving can distract a driver and easily lead to an accident involving themselves or other motorists and pedestrians.

Police took to Twitter yesterday to spread the word about their operation in a bid to encourage other drivers in the area to follow suit.

This needs to happen more regularly. I must see at least 10 drivers a day on mobiles. They clearly don't think they'll be caught!
