Why doesn’t our post arrive until 5?

HOMEOWNERS in Tuffley are angry after days of receiving their post at 5pm.

Many people who live on Windsor Drive have been complaining about the lateness of the delivery times and incorrect post being delivered.

Retired Jenny Perris said: “Two days last week we had our letters delivered in the evening. This is just not an acceptable service. I have complained to Royal Mail, who said they would be in touch but I have not heard back.”

Jenny is also worried about the recent change in collection service from Quedgeley to Brockworth.

Jenny added: “Not only do we have to collect our undelivered parcels from Brockworth but our post is processed in Bristol. They talk about carbon footprint but it travels 70 miles there and back to be sorted.

“It is hard for people to travel to Brockworth. We recently sold our car because we were not doing the miles and this means I will have to take the bus to collect any parcels.

“Earlier this month we also had four letters delivered to our address but not addressed to us therefore one wonders where my post is going. I can understand one letter being mis-delivered – everyone makes mistakes – but not four. Thanks Royal Mail for raising the stamps up by 2p in April for a diabolical service.”

Royal Mail has confirmed deliveries in this area have been affected recently due to unusual levels of absence in their delivery office.

Royal Mail spokesperson Mike Norman said: “We apologise to Ms Perris for the mis-delivery of some items of mail and the inconvenience this has caused.

“Our delivery team has been made aware of her complaint and will put measures in place to ensure this does not happen again.

“Mail deliveries in Tuffley have been affected recently due to unusual levels of absence in the delivery office. Contingency measures have been put into place but unfortunately some delivery walks did experience a later delivery.

“Royal Mail is doing everything possible to maintain the high level of service that our customers expect and deserve.

The former sorting office on Eastern Avenue closed earlier this month, with workers at the site calling it the end of an era.

It followed a review by Royal Mail which found the sorting office was dealing with less mail than before.

All mail with a GL1 postcode will now be dealt with at a site near Bristol after more than 100 workers left the site for the last time.

There were 380 workers on the site before the cutback was announced – and 260 of those have relocated to the Filton sorting office.

    "Our delivery team has been made aware of her complaint and will put measures in place to ensure this does not happen again ............................................. meaning we couldnt care less. i have been hearing this promise for the last 10+ years ............. my road in abbeydale we havent seen post on a tuesday for several months but according to the complaints team its just a coincidence that we havent had any mail on a tuesday ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, also mis deliveries are frequent and often its right number wrong road or postie puts mail one number out for the whole road i do wonder where number ones might get delivered tho !

    Royal Mail have missed a trick here? This late delivery wasn't late at all........it was early from the next day! No complaint is justified.
