Was your car covered in red dust this morning in Gloucestershire?

Sand from the Sahara has blown up from the south into the UK

Comments (2)

Freakish weather patterns have left a covering of red desert dust on many cars across the UK today.

Drivers across Britain were left bewildered by the thin coating of red dust found on cars this morning, understood to have blown in from the Sahara.

So while there are certainly no camels or palm trees in Reigate, the market town in the foothills of the North Downs did receive a small taste of North Africa.

It was particularly annoying for anyone who had spent Sunday afternoon washing their car.

But it wasn’t only drivers in the south-east that were hit by the red sand – cars in Devon and Cornwall also received a heavy dusting.

Has you car been affected?
