An elderly woman has died in a crash on Cleeve Hill.

The 87-year-old, from Winchcombe, was killed when the car she was in came off the road on the B4632, careering into a fence and parked car at 2.15pm yesterday.

Paramedics attempted to resuscitate the pensioner, who had suffered serious head injuries, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

An 88-year-old man who was driving the car, a grey Vauxhall Astra, was taken to hospital with minor injuries. He has since been released from hospital.

Gambles Lane and Stockwell Lane were closed and motorists advised to avoid the area for several hours following the incident.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who haven't yet spoken to officers to come forward. You can call police on 101, quoting incident 259 of December 9.
