Winners of the Gloucestershire Women in Business Awards 2014 were revealed at a stylish ceremony staged at Hatherley Manor Hotel, Gloucester.

Organised by Gloucestershire Media, publisher of the county's newspapers the Gloucester Citizen, Gloucestershire Echo and Stroud Life and staged in association with title sponsor Grundon, the awards shine the spotlight on the women at the heart of the county's business community.

Now established as an annual event the awards – supported by Southwestbusiness.co.uk - go from strength to strength and aim to pay tribute to the women whose determination and success are helping to drive Gloucestershire's economy.

Sarah Naish, of Stroud-based organisation Fostering Together Ltd, won the Woman of the Year award. She said: "It was a massive surprise. It means a lot because I'm here tonight with the people who were with me right from when I started 17 years ago. It's great to have the recognition that they all deserve."

Sarah Pullen, managing director of Gloucestershire Media, publisher of The Gloucester Citizen, Gloucestershire Echo and Stroud Life, said: "This is the fifth year we have run the Women in Business awards and I am delighted that they have gone from strength to strength."

Jenny Eastwood, editor of the Gloucester Citizen, said: "At a time when there is so much doom and gloom in the national press about the economy, it is more important than ever that we celebrate the success of local stories."

Kevan  Blackadder, editor of the Gloucestershire Echo, said: "I am overwhelmed by the enormous energy, talent and innovation of our finalists and winners.

"I am proud to be here tonight. And our newspapers are proud to support women in business in Gloucestershire."
