TEWKESBURY Borough Council's waste and recycling crews are out picking up scheduled collections as normal today.

The council says that when there is a collection vehicle available, crews will be asked to revisit areas that did not have their green bin emptied due to the snow.
It says it cannot guarantee all areas will be re-visited but crews will be doing their best to pick up as many missed green bins as possible.

All other missed collections will be picked up on the next scheduled collection date.

In areas that have experienced missed recycling collections, the council is providing free blue bags for excess recycling, which are available at Brockworth Community Centre, Bishop's Cleeve Library and Winchcombe Town Council's offices. They can also be collected from the borough council offices in Tewkesbury.

The borough's lead member for clean and green environment, Councillor Jim Mason, said: "Our crews are working extremely hard to ensure as many bins are picked up as possible. To try and ease the problem, if possible we will send a vehicle to collect green bins in areas that have experienced missed collections, and we are providing free blue bags for excess recycling.

"I apologise to all those who haven't had their bins collected as a result of the snow and I hope our residents will understand that during these severe weather conditions we must put the safety of the public and our crews first."

Residents can also take excess waste and recycling to household recycling centres.
