A sustainability charity in Gloucestershire is promoting tourism in the county as part of English Tourism Week.
Vision21 is backing next week’s campaign which boosts the local economy.
The scheme not only aims to re-circulate money in the economy by helping to sustain livelihoods and help maintain communities, but is also attempting to reduce the amount of “holiday miles” people rack up by promoting staycations.
Vision 21 is an independent sustainability charity focused on Gloucestershire.
It is as much a social organisation as it is an environmental one, helping people to improve their quality of life as well as their living environment.
The charity supports local solutions to global issues by working to change attitudes and behaviours to enable communities to meet their needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
A spokesman for the charity said: “Tourism generates £97billion each year, employs in excess of two million people and supports thousands of businesses, both directly and indirectly.
“Every day during English Tourism Week, between March 29 and April 6, Vision 21 will be sending out a series of Tweets about various activities in the county.
