THE victim of a human trafficking gang who was held as a sex slave in the house where Fred West began his murder spree in Gloucester has spoken out about her ordeal.

Her story has been told as part of an investigation by the Sun newspaper into modern slavery in the UK.

The victim, known only as Nikola, was targeted by a human trafficking gang in her native Czech Republic and brought to Britain.

The Sun reports that she was held in squalid rooms in Gloucester and South London and made to work as a prostitute.

She eventually escaped and the gang who enslaved her were jailed last year.

Speaking about the house in Midland Road, Gloucester, Nikola, now 24, said: "I had no idea the house I was in had links to Fred West, but it made me have an uneasy feeling about what my new life was really going to be like."

The house, where Rosemary West killed her eight-year-old step-daughter Charmaine and buried her in 1971, was also used by the slavery gang to imprison victims and break their will.

Dezider Herak, 37, and his mother Ludmila Nistorova, 54, were both jailed for nine years at Isleworth Crown Court last May after being convicted of charges including trafficking for sexual exploitation.

Iveta Viragova, 44, and her son Vojtech Virag, 26, were each jailed for 11 years.

Nikola said: "I want people to know that what happened to me could happen to any vulnerable girl, and if there is someone out there reading this in the same situation I was in, I want to say: 'Don't be afraid. Go to the police. They will help you and you can be set free.'"
