A SPLASH of Hollywood glamour is set to transform a Gloucestershire stage as the razzmatazz of Las Vegas rolls into town.

The Roses in Tewkesbury will play host to One Night in Vegas as its glamorous Christmas party springs into life on Thursday.

A perfect evening to herald in the season of goodwill, the show features festive classics including Let It Snow, White Christmas and Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree.

Musicians from the British Philharmonic Orchestra bring the sounds of the world's entertainment capital to life in the interactive musical starring Martyn Lucas.

Martyn's showbiz beginnings date back to a holiday snap where, as a child, he was spotted trying on his mum's Shirley Bassey wig.

The Cornish lad was born into the glamorous world of entertainment thanks to his mum, Carol West, being a singer, best-known for supporting Tommy Cooper, and his dad a former drummer with the Victor Sylvester Dance band.

All the top acts from The Strip will be conjured up by Lucas who played the Phantom during a run at Caesar's Palace and who supported the raucous Bette Midler in Vegas before setting out on his new venture.

He believes that the show captures the land of the bright lights perfectly.

"If you could go to Vegas in just one night, see everything in two hours – the glamour, the costumes, the music, the atmosphere – that's what we've tried to bring to the stage," he said.

Lucas will perform classics ranging from the likes of Frank Sinatra and Michael Buble to Elton John and Pavarotti in the festive extravaganza. Tickets range from £9 to £17.50. Call 01684 295074.
