VANDALS have slashed the tyres of six cars in a crime spree in Coney Hill.

Residents of Old Painswick Road reported six vehicles, including a Ford Ka, a black BMW, a Peugeot van and a Vauxhall van, had their tyres slashed.

Police are currently investigating the incident, and are following up a lead after one resident captured footage of someone walking through the area at 4.45am on the day of the damage.

Gloucester city councillor Lise Noakes (C, Barnwood) represents the area and she was shocked to hear the news.

She said: "It is just sheer malice, it really is absolutely disgraceful.

"It is such a quiet area, the only complaints we have ever had from there have been about dog fouling.

"I am very sorry to hear about this, it is mindless vandalism, that's all you can say about it.

"I hope the police find who did it.

"There are some good residents in that road who will be very helpful."

A police spokesman said: "This is the kind of mindless vandalism that makes us all despair and causes a lot of anger and upset.

"If you have any idea who may have been responsible we would urge you to call police on 101, quoting incident 62 of November 6.

"Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be called anonymously on 0800 555 111.

"They often give rewards for information leading to convictions."

Currently no arrests have been made.
