TOM Taaffe and a host of other leading trainers have maximised their chances of victory at the Cheltenham Festival by making multiple entries.

The 2005 Gold Cup-winning trainer has given leading contender Argocat entries in the three top races for novice chasers – the Racing Post Arkle Chase, the RSA Chase and the Jewson Novices' Chase.

Argocat pressed his claims with an eight-length victory over two and a half miles at Limerick on December 26.

Taaffe said: "The preference for Argocat at the moment is the Jewson.

"He won't run again before Cheltenham but he has been in super form since his win at Limerick.

"He had a mid-term break and is back in full swing now.

"He is progressive and has done nothing but please us since he has gone over fences.

"I started schooling him in April last year and he jumped so well that I said that we are better off going over fences than sticking to hurdles.

"Better ground will definitely help him a lot and that's why I have entered him in the two other races."

County trainers Tom George and Nigel Twiston-Davies have also made entries in all three novice chases.

George has shortlisted Festival Trials Day contender Module and Majala for the Arkle Chase, in which Twiston-Davies could run Changing Times.

Module and Changing Times are also being considered for the Jewson.

In the RSA, George could run Chartreux and Twiston-Davies has shortlisted Same Difference and Tour Des Champs.

The Arkle Chase promises to be one of the races of the Festival with Simonsig and Overturn among the entries.
