STROUD Cricket Club are perhaps most famous for launching the career of Gloucestershire and England legend, and son of the Five Valleys, Jack Russell.

The current crop of Stroud players are currently battling away in the Gloucestershire Division of the West of England Premier League.

In the latest of our Team of the Week features, long-serving all-rounder Paul Frape introduces the team.

1 Chris Job ‘Fat Hands’ – Quality all rounder who takes pride in not working on the ball

2 Paul Frape ‘PGF’ – Likes to bowl line and length off stump but drifts down leg a lot!

3 Jeremy Ward ‘Kermit’ – Likes a big booming drive through the offside ... Usually in the air!

4 James Job ‘Whale Egg’ – Quick bowler who also swings the willow .. Never happier than when having a good moan!!

5 Leighton Collins ‘Brillo Pad’ – All rounder famous for triple bouncers and full tosses that go for six byes!

6 Ed Mobbs ‘SIC’ – Never seen withought a bat in his hand .. Too much muscle to move around the field!!

7 Angus Gegg ‘Goose’ – A good addition to the first team.. The best bowler in the family!!

8 Matt Smith ‘Smudge’ – Very quick batsmen.. famous for his club standard fielding!

9 Toby Carman ‘Gypsie’ – New captain this season .. Really enjoys a great looking 20 then a nice chip to mid off.

10 Sam Warner ‘Matson’ – The most intelligent player in the team ... likes to sit on the balcony thinking of the next tactical masterstroke!

11 Luke Palmer ‘Hamster’ – Good opening bowler .. Bats at 11 but is probably good enough to move all the way up to 10!
