Saturday Kitchen’s James Martin became the latest celebrity chef to join the Gloucester Quays Food Festival today.
The TV chef, who has been hosting the BBC1 cooking programme for nine years, has been sharing his passion for food with visitors at the Cookery Theatre at the Gloucester Docks. James’ last demonstration today will be at 4pm.
He follows Great British Bake Off judge Paul Hollywood, who gave demonstrations at the Quays yesterday, and last year’s bake off winner Frances Quinn who helped to judge a cake competition.
James, who has visited the festival for the past three years, said: “I’ve watched the festival grow up and develop over the years. Everyone loves food and events like this help the local suppliers and provide added footfall for the area to help the economy.
“Gloucestershire is a county which is rich in ingredients, and I’ve always been a fan local produce. In Britain we have the greatest food in the world.
“Cooking has always been popular, but there has been a massive push over the last 20 years to improve the quality of food and help people understand food.”
The Gloucester Quays Food Festival 2014, which features more than 120 food and drinks stalls, ends later today.
