TV: BBC'S The Voice: a few things you might not know

:: The Voice was created by John De Mol, a Dutch media tycoon responsible for the Big Brother and Deal Or No Deal formats.

:: The BBC reportedly won a bidding war with ITV securing the rights to the show for £22million.

:: ITV then launched the sixth series of Britain's Got Talent on The Voice UK's opening night - March 24, 2012 - which many believe was a deliberate attempt to start a 'ratings war'.

:: There have been two winners so far - Leanne Mitchell, coached by Sir Tom Jones in the first series, and Andrea Begley, mentored by Danny O'Donoghue, in the second series. Neither have taken the charts by storm - yet.
