Stroud people urged to discover more about becoming a trustee

Community-minded people living in the Stroud area are being urged to come along to an information event to find out more about what's involved in becoming a trustee.

Trustees play a critical role in keeping an organisation focused on its purpose and directing the strategy. Effective trustee boards, or management committees as they are also known, need a range of people with a good mix of skills.
The best boards are also diverse, with people who have a real understanding of the needs to be met and others with good financial, business and management experience.
The meeting, being organised by the Gloucestershire Association for Voluntary and Community Action (GAVCA), is being held on 4 February 12.30pm – 2pm at Maypole Hall, Paganhill, Stroud GL5 4AN.
"Being a trustee is hugely rewarding, and provides opportunities to bring your skills and energy to running the charity.  You will also find you gain new experience and knowledge which can be very helpful in boosting your CV," said Mary Boucher, Development Worker at GAVCA.
Groups needing help recruiting, training and supporting trustees are also urged to come along for support and guidance.
The Gloucestershire Association for Voluntary and Action (GAVCA), provides support to the voluntary and community sector in Gloucestershire.

For further information contact either Mary Boucher or Angela Gilbert on 01242 227737 or email MaryB@gavca.org.uk or AngelaG@gavca.org.uk to book a place.
