Remember the nursery rhyme? It definitely feels fitting for this January.

With flooding in Gloucestershire once again and more than our fair share of wet weather, it has got us shopping for waterproof gear.

Here we share our pick of the best rainy day clothing to suit your budget.

WELLIES

SPLURGE: Hunters are the ultimate wellington boot for those who want to make a statement.

The epitome of British style, they’re a classic, although you’d be paying £70 and upwards for the gentry look.

SAVE: F&F by Tesco have mastered the tailored boot look at a bargain £9.

This navy pair of wellies even pay attention to detail with their little buckle.

WATERPROOF COAT

SPLURGE: If you want to invest in a coat for life which will see you through thick and thin, storm or hale, then Barbour is the make for you.

Their outdoor hooded Beadnell jacket will have you feeling snugger than ever at £219.

SAVE: Millets might not be for the savers when full price, but its January sales have some bargain buys, such as their Peter Storm Women's waterproof jacket at £25.

UMBRELLA

SPLURGE: Get the ultimate manbrella, black checked with leather handle for a pricey £195 from Burberry. For something a bit more practical, Fulton Black storm shield umbrella has an extra layer structured to prevent those inside-out umbrella moments. Find it at Debenhams for £26.

SAVE: Stay pretty in pink with Faith’s hook handled umbrella or tuck this little black umbrella into your bag for £10 from Asda, or men’s LBU (Little Black Umbrella) for £6 at Burtons.

GLOVES

SPLURGE: Venture into LK Bennett at Gloucester Quays and see if they have any more of their pink three-button gloves which were £39 originally.

SAVE: For guaranteed warmth, try BHS’s Grey Thinsulate Gloves for £5.95 or for a sophisticated look, go for their Faux Fur Herringbone Glove at £10.

GADGETS

SPLURGE: For the conscious businessman, invest in Corsair, the waterproof USB stick. Whether its in your suit pocket or you spill your tea over it, it's build to resist all and keep your files save for £39.15 from their website.

SAVE: Pick up a waterproof iphone or ipod case from the UK's Cellphone Shop for £4.95.

It's not totally unheard of for water damage to cause issues for your gadgets, so prevent and save yourself the worry when you're on the go.
