DIGNITARIES were impressed with two big sporting hits in Stroud.

Rush skatepark and Inside Football have proved massively popular since they opened at Brimscombe Port, in a deal which sees their rent fund canal restoration.

Stroud District Council, which manages the site and brokered the deal, invited Dame Janet Trotter, HM Lord Lieutenant of Gloucestershire, to see the facilities in former factory units.

“These are fantastic facilities, not just for local people but much further afield,” said council leader Geoff Wheeler who visited with chief executive David Hagg and chairman Dennis Andrewartha. “We are privileged to have them right on our doorstep here in Stroud. Anyone using them, or just visiting, will be as impressed as I was.”
