ACTING chief executive and vice chancellor of the University of Gloucestershire Dr Paul Hartley has resigned.
He is set to leave the university at the end of July.
He said: "It has been a privilege over the past year or so to lead the institution to a more stable position from which to face a future which will be challenging for the whole sector.
"Our financial position is much improved, we continue to deliver a hugely successful international strategy, and our academic portfolio and its quality is sound. I said when I took up this post that this university had a bright future, and I still hold to that belief."
The Chair of the University Council, Revd Malcolm Herbert, said: "We are indebted to Paul who has led the institution through a very challenging period.
"I know I speak for the whole university community in expressing our sincere thanks to Paul."
