THE biggest party night of the year is upon us tonight – but where best to celebrate the dawn of 2014?

Venues across Gloucester are pulling out all the stops, with Cafe Rene likely to be one of the most popular.

DJ Pogo, Dirty Lyle, Mr Yip and Lil Joey will be hitting the decks, with a hot and cold buffet laid on for those stumping up the £9 on the door entry fee.

Drum 'n' Bass comes to the Tiger's Eye restaurant in Southgate Street too, with exclusive cocktail menus replacing the usual food feasts there.

Tickets are £2.

Eastgate Street is likely to be particularly lively, with plenty on offer along Gloucester's equivalent of The Strip, while the Bowden Hall and Hatherley Manor hotels are upping the ante with black tie balls.

Here are our pick of the best:

1. Mercure Gloucester Bowden Hall has once again planned a party which will see you enter 2014 in truly spectacular way.

Phil Dando’s band will be playing live music for you to enjoy during your five course dinner or you can opt for the dinner party which is a six course meal of lobster, crayfish, crab and truffles.

The White Tie and Tiara Party is for those who are looking to party away and is £77 or if you’re opting for the six course dinner event, it’s £67 for the Ice White and Tiara Dinner.

To book, call 0844 815 9077

2. Hatherley Manor Hotel will be transformed into a casino for the night in the Hatherley Suite. Have a two course buffet and spend the night dancing to the resident DJ’s tunes with a few drinks from the open bar.

Tickets are £99 per person.

To book, call 01452 730217.

3. Live music lovers will know Café Rene and they will be seeing off 2013 in true Rene style.

Whatever your music taste, they have it all covered and the various floors will have underground house, rock, hip hop, soul and funk on the go.

Not to mention their hot and cold buffet which is said to be ‘epic’.

For more information, call 01452 309340.

4. Tiger’s Eye New Year’s Party will draw in foodies and dancers as they open the restaurant for festivities.

£2 a ticket sees you celebrate from 9pm onwards and all proceeds will go to charity too, so splurge with a good cause.

DJ method will also be playing your favourite tunes so head here to add a local feel to your celebrations.

Call the restaurant on 01452 332993.
