RARE rural car crime has prompted a police investigation at outlying Leighterton.
Officers were called to The Street and Tetbury Lane in the village off the main A46 BathRoad after four parked cars were scratched on Saturday night.
"Extensive damage was caused to the paintworks," Gloucestershire Constabulary spokeswoman Alexa Collicott said.
"Incidents of criminal damage are very rare in the area and officers are asking the community to report any suspicious activity they may have seen or heard in the area over the weekend," she said.
Information can be given to the police by calling them on 101, quoting incident number 286 of November 18.
