Taylke - don't try and criticize others and make yourself look like a fool, maybe the taxi driver as a professional driver knows that road depth gages are in general measured in feet not meters. This gauge has a scale to 6 feet at the top. A417 depth gauge - http://tinyurl.com/neve3pu

Maybe the driver is related to the taxi driver who said the sign showed the water as between1 & 1.5 feet deep. No it was showing the water as between 1 & 1.5 metres deep! Apart from anything else didn't it occur to him that the distance between 1 & 1.5 was rather more than 6"!!
