The A417 through Maisemore has finally been reopened.
It was closed earlier this week after flood waters filled the road outside the White Hart Inn, blocking it off.
Police says it is now passable with care and have put temporary lights in place as part of road still has standing water.

Isn't it time that someone works out the economic cost of the repeated closures of the A417 Maismore to Over road? Isn't it about time the road is moved 10m away from the river and the road raised by 8' with sections running over viaducts? 10m from the river will increase the flow along the river when in flood and also allow construction without prelonged closure of the road. The sections of viaduct will be more than enough to let water pass under the road and stop "upstream flooding"

I think this is a case of needs must. It's been passable since early this morning with care and I think the police just accepted the inevitable, especially after last night's horrendous delays caused by a broken down horse wagon on the Newent road.
