This dramatic police video footage shows a car chase through the streets of Matson as teenager Jordan Shepherd took his nan's Vauxhall Corsa for a ride - with his heavily pregnant girlfriend on board.
Shepherd, 19, pleaded guilty at Gloucester Crown Court to taking a vehicle without consent, dangerous driving, driving without insurance, driving not in accordance with a licence and failing to stop at the request of constable.
Judge Jamie Tabor jailed him for eight months, banned him from driving for 12 months, told him he would have to sit an extended driving licence and ordered he pay a £100 victim surcharge.
The footage shows a police car in pursuit of Shepherd as he drives a Vauxhall Corsa at speeds of up to 60mph.
Defending Andrew Hobson told the court Shepherd had not coped well with the death of his own father of cancer in February last year.
Mr Hobson said: “It was not his intention to drive badly and dangerously.
“He did not have the proper driving documentation and he went into a state of panic.
“It was out of panic and he did not set out to engage in some sort of competition with police.
“He knows as much as anybody that what he did was unacceptable.”
