Emergency fire crews were called into Parkland Service Station in Gloucester on Saturday afternoon after a car caught fire on the forecourt.

Police were forced to close the A40 Northern Bypass as a precaution at around 3.45pm.

The fire service extinguished flames and smoke coming from a VW Passat at the Shell petrol station.

No one was injured.
