Just shy of 700 young people in Gloucestershire were not in education, employment or training (NEET) in January 2013, dropping to 626 at the same point this year.

That means 4.3 per cent of young people in the county are NEET which is lower than the rate for the south west and the UK.

Councillor Paul McLain, cabinet member for children and young people, said the rate “reflects the priority” Gloucestershire County Council has given to “helping young people find work and training”.

There is no reason for anyone not to be employed.

OK, I'm going to be cynicalMr Cynic here.... we all know statistics can be manipulated and made to say whatever you want... So, how has this happened? is it because there has been an actual increase in people attending college or getting work, or is it because suddenly due to the changes in age, previously counted people are no longer counted in that bracket? or something else. If it is actually the case.... all well and good, but I would like to see all of the stats rather than Paul McLain just releasing the fraction to appear as good news.
