LONG queues at Gloucester's new Cineworld cinema have been blamed on technical faults with tills.
The new 10-screen cinema opened on December 13 and has been a big hit among visitors to the city.
But a few visitors have reported teething problems. Some customers took to social networking sites Facebook and Twitter to express their dismay at waiting times to buy tickets.
One customer said: "The new cinema in the Quays is dreadful. I started queuing for tickets at 3pm, the film started at 3.30pm and I finally got to the front of the queue at 3.40pm and almost missed the start.
"Really bad service in there with slow, miserable staff. Going to Stroud or Cheltenham in future."
Another customer said: "Also had problems, all ticket machines were out of order, queued upstairs which wasn't too bad but the staff member gave us the wrong tickets twice! I understand it's new and the staff are new but it was just really annoying."
Someone else wrote on Facebook: "They had a few teething problems with the ticket collection machines but other than that its a welcome addition 10 times better than the old place."
But many other Facebook users were more positive, with one saying: "I've been there twice over the Xmas period, totally enjoyable experience. I had pre-booked tickets picked them up, no hassle even when machine didn't print them out – all I had to do was show my email on my phone and the happy assistant let me and my eight guests through no problem."
A Cineworld spokesman said: "We apologise to customers who experienced long queues at Gloucester Quays. This was due to technical faults with the tills and ATMs that our suppliers and technical teams worked hard to resolve, and which have now been rectified."
