THE OWNER of a mystery book packed with treasured memories is being sought by a city fast food outlet.

On Toast boss David Purchase has kept the book, containing family photographs and signed pictures, for safe keeping and wants to get it back in the hands of its rightful owner.

“I think it belongs to a man who came in two weeks ago, who ordered two coffees and spilt one of them,” said David, who runs the cafe on Gloucester Docks’ West Quay.

“He was concerned he’d spilt a coffee but he had no need to be, and he insisted on leaving a tip.

“He may well have been from the Forest of Dean.

“It seems to be a book of memories that’s very much treasured and I’d really like to get it back to him.”

The red, hard-backed book is marked “Book 3” with the words “Forest of Dean” and “Stone” on the inside. It contains photographs including a signed copy from a ship’s crew, and another of an elderly woman.

Anyone who knows the owner of the book is asked to contact David on 01452 505 440.
