Look out for musical fun in Nailsworth next week when Nailsworth Dramatic Society presents Smike, a musical by Simon May and Roger Holman.

Familiar NDS faces like Mervyn Rudge, Pauline Scotting, Andrew Miller and Ned Mortlock are among the cast, but there will also be many new members including an ensemble of young people.

Lisle Purchase will be directing instead of her usual role of acting. She has co-directed many successful musicals at Nailsworth Primary School.

Smike is a pop musical freely based on Charles Dickens’ Nicholas Nickleby.

It follows the story of a group of restless school children who go back in time to the harsh world of Charles Dickens and see for themselves that there are advantages in living in the twenty first century.

So why don’t you come along and join our journey through the wonderful music and the funny, moving and very poignant words performed by a fabulous cast.

Performances are at Nailsworth Town Hall from Wednesday 20 to Saturday 23 November at 7.30pm and Saturday matinee at 2.30pm

Tickets are £7.50 from Shiny Goodness on Fountain Street or online from www.nailsworthdramaticsociety.com.
