ORGANISERS for one of Montpellier's biggest festivals are determined that this year's will go ahead after it was cancelled last year.

The annual Midsummer Fiesta, which draws hundred of visitors each year, was cancelled at the last minute last year because of heavy rains.

Andy Hayes, entertainment lead at the fiesta, said: "It was extremely disappointing for everybody involved.

"Cancelling wasn't a decision anybody wanted to make, but it was the responsible decision. The organising committee were all very touched by the messages of support on social media from members of the public, and we are determined that whatever the weather, Midsummer Fiesta 2013 will go ahead."

Bands are invited to apply to play at the July 6 festival, which will be held at Montpellier Gardens.

Those interested should send their contact details, a brief bio and a link to examples of their work to andyhayes@hwnp.org.uk or phone Andy on 01242 548 294.

The deadline for applicants is Sunday, April 7th. The selection panel will notify successful candidates by the end of April.
