Striker Matthew Barnes-Homer has left Forest Green to join their Skrill Premier rivals Cambridge United.

Brought to the New Lawn on a two-year contract by Dave Hockaday last summer, the nomadic forward has scored six goals in all competitions this season but never established himself as a regular starter.

New Rovers boss Ady Pennock is keen to reduce the size of the squad, and the club agreed to release the ex-Macclesfield Town man on a free transfer.

Barnes-Homer spent two-and-a-half seasons at Kidderminster Harriers, scoring 35 goals in 100 appearances, and later played under Cambridge manager Richard Money at Luton Town.
