FOREST MP Mark Harper has expressed his delight that Gloucestershire College has received vital funding to build a new campus in the Dean.
The Skills and Funding Agency (SFA) has given GlosCol £5million towards the project which is said to be central to Cinderford’s Northern Quarter regeneration programme.
Mr Harper said he worked with the college and district council to make ministers “fully aware of the importance of the scheme” which will help to bring growth and economic growth to the Forest.
“I am very pleased that the Government has now confirmed the capital funding, allowing the college to start implementing its plans in earnest,” Mr Harper said.
“The fact that the college’s funding has been approved by the Government is also critical in ensuring the wider regeneration plan for Cinderford goes ahead, which will bring much needed investment into the local area.
“A new college in the Forest will help provide students with the modern facilities that they need to succeed, and provide them with the education and training necessary to achieve their potential and succeed in the workplace.”
The total cost of the college construction project is £15m.
