What's your favourite Gloucestershire day out?
I enjoy driving through the Cotswolds and visiting its attractive villages such as Bibury and Painswick. However, for me nothing compares with a visit to Gloucester's second cathedral, Kingsholm!
And your favourite place to eat out in the county?
I take my dad to the Longford Inn for a steak regularly which rarely disappoints, but the Hatton Court Hotel for its views as well as its food, and Monty's and Café Rouge in Cheltenham are personal favourites. Nikki's Taverna in Westgate Street is a must.
What's the worst job you've ever had?
Holiday job in the Stores at Gloucester Saro when I was at university. The experience certainly convinced me that teaching was the career for me!
Have you got any unusal habits?
I'm sure my wife, Debbie, could fill a few column inches if you asked her – but please don't!
Who is your hero and why?
I have always admired Muhammad Ali, not just for being the greatest sportsman of modern times in my opinion, but also for the way that he has fought Parkinson's Disease in recent times and inspired other sufferers. However, those young men and women in our Armed Forces, who have suffered serious injuries and, indeed, paid the ultimate price out in Afghanistan to protect us from terrorism, are very special people and the real heroes.
What book are you reading at the moment or tell us your favourite?
I've just finished Brian Moore's autobiography, Beware of the Dog, which won the William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award in 2010. Pitbull gave a very honest account of the highs and lows of his life including playing rugby.
What was the last film you watched?
I don't go to the cinema very often, preferring the theatre, but I've just seen the latest Bond film, Skyfall, and it was superb. Sadly though, the Queen and her corgis didn't feature on this occasion!
First single/record you ever bought?
Blackberry Way by the Move in 1968 – interestingly, I've no idea which was the second one I purchased.
Facebook or Twitter?
Neither, but I do text and send emails – I'll get there!
