Light snow flurries will fall across Gloucestershire today, causing more treacherous conditions on county roads.
Forecasters say there will be sporadic outbreaks of sleet and snow throughout the day with temperatures hovering around the freezing mark.
Glosmedia weather expert Ian Thomas said the big freeze will last until Saturday.
He said: "Today there will be a light dusting of sleet and snow with temperatures struggling to get above freezing in most areas.
"There will be a sharp frost tonight.
"Another area of sleet and snow will move up on Tuesday.
"Wednesday and Thursday will be a lot colder with temperatures of -2C to -5C at night.
"There is no sign of an end to the cold weather until the end of the week.
"There is a hint of some milder weather for Saturday.
"So there maybe some thawing during the week but not much give.
"People should still expect snow and ice on the roads and pavements and take care when walking about."
