Judge grants bail for man accused of Tredworth stabbing

A man has appeared in court after a stabbing in Tredworth

A 48 year old Gloucester man accused of stabbing a homeless middle aged man in Tredworth High Street last weekend has been granted bail at the city crown court today.

After hearing a defence application behind closed doors,Judge William Hart agreed to release Christopher Smith, of Eliot Close, Gloucester, on conditional bail pending his next appearance on June 13.

Smith is accused of causing grievious bodily harm with intent following a stabbing last Saturday afternoon.

A 50-year-old man arrested during the investigation into the stabbing remains on police bail until July 3.

The victim, aged 47, was stabbed to the leg and chest and was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for treatment before being discharged on Monday.

House to house inquiries and forensic examinations were carried out during the police investigation.
