Jonny May's broken nose was due to be assessed today by a specialist ahead of Saturday's Six Nations match against Scotland at Murrayfield.

The Gloucester winger was on the pitch for just a few minutes when his nose was fractured during the 26-24 defeat at the Stade de France.

A decision on his availability for selection against Scotland will be made following that examination.

Courtney Lawes (Northampton Saints) suffered a bruised cheekbone but no structural damage and will be available for selection.

May's Gloucester colleague Freddie Burns has returned to the senior squad after starting for the second string Saxons in their opening two matches.

Under the Elite Player Squad agreement England will have 33 players in camp with Stephen Myler (Northampton Saints), Rob Webber (Bath Rugby) and Richard Wigglesworth (Saracens) returning to their Aviva Premiership clubs.

All Gloucester Rugby supporters will know what a fine player Jonny is, but all Gloucester Rugby supporters also know that what the club must consistently do is to ensure that Rupҽrt Hardҽn, our first choice and best tight head prop, starts as many games as possible, otherwise the scrum will end up getting mullered as it did last season every time Rupҽrt was unavailable.
