John Higgins beat Judd Trump to win the Kay Suzanne Memorial Trophy at the South West Snooker Academy in Gloucester last night.
The Wizard of Wishaw beat Bristol's Trump 4-2 in the in the Players Tour Championship event at the Quedgeley venue to land the £10,000 top prize and 2,000 ranking points.
Higgins said: "Judd missed a couple of balls in the final and I played well. It's always great to win a tournament, especially beating Judd in the final.
"I struggled at times yesterday and won three matches 4-3, the conditions were difficult so I just had to scrap through, but I played better in the final. We've got some big events like the UK Championship and the Masters coming up so it's good to build some confidence."
Gloucester potter Michael Wasley reached the last 16 of a professional tournament for the first time, but was defeated 4-1 by Anthony Hamilton who reached the semi-finals before losing 4-3 to Higgins.
