Gloucester 'superhero' Jamie McDonald, who trekked across Canada for 10 months to raise £85,000 for charity, has been named on the 2014 'Happy List' by The Independent on Sunday.
The 27-year-old features in the list of 100 people who have selflessly helped others.
The former tennis coach was hospital-bound for much of his young life and he wanted to pay back the support he received from Gloucestershire Royal Hospital staff, spurring him on to his charitable ways.
The Happy List reports: "Hospital-bound for much of his childhood, Jamie, a former tennis coach from Gloucester, decided to give back to charities that had supported him. He ran across Canada dressed as superhero The Flash, becoming the first man to complete the coast-to-coast run without support and raised over £60,000."
