A NEW memorial garden has been unveiled at Gloucester cemetery and crematorium at Coney Hill.
Relatives who don’t want the cremated remains of their loved ones scattered in the gardens of remembrance can now have them interred in an above-ground memorial.
The newly-created garden is one of a number of special sections in the grounds and is one of the reasons why, Gloucester City Council said, other councils from across the country visit the site.
Councillor Sajid Patel, cabinet member for the environment, said: “This is a lovely new memorial garden and is already proving to be very popular. It has been designed in a certain way allowing us to extend it in the future.
“One of the particular aspects is that each memorial can be individually designed to give them a personal touch.
“It is this level of service and attention to detail along with facilities such as recently opened wake room and tea room that marks our service out as one of the best.”
