IT may not look almost finished but builders will soon be moving out of The Gym at Gloucester Quays as it prepares to open.
Up to 4,000 new members are eagerly awaiting the launch of the gym on December 19.
The national firm offers cheap gym membership at £10.99 a month and members can use it 24 hours a day without signing a contract.
The Citizen got a sneak peek of The Gym this week.
Builders have transformed a building that was originally intended just for restaurants.
They have filled in massive holes in the floor to create a 15,000 sq ft space for hundreds of gym machines.
Gym users will come in through the ground floor entrance which will lead up to a mezzanine floor with showers and changing facilities, and the gym will be on the top floor with views over to the canal.
The weights area is on the same floor but is separated from the rest of the facilities.
"A lot of hard work has gone into this," said Nick Poole, facilities manager for Peel, which is developing the whole Quays area. "Our work here is almost done and then the team from The Gym will come in for three days in the second week of December to put in their equipment.
"They can set up hundreds of machine sand gym equipment in just three days.
"Then it will be ready to open on December 19."
