HOYEZ! Hoyez! Hoyez! Christmas has arrived in Gloucester.

The city's town crier Alan Myatt has been ringing in the festive season clad in his spirit of Christmas outfit.

With a number of events scheduled to take place in December, Mr Myatt is encouraging people to not be a Scrooge and to enjoy the season.

He said: "There is a lot going on this year, people should come to Gloucester.

"I travel up and down the country and this city is the place to be at Christmas. Bring your family and get into the spirit."

Events lined up this year include a Victorian Market at Gloucester Quays this weekend, carol concerts at the Cathedral and the Red Riding Hood pantomime at the Guildhall.

"Santa Claus will also be visiting the city so little ones need to get writing their letters," added Mr Myatt.

Father Christmas will be at King's Walk on December 3 and 11 and on The Cross on December 6.

Is it my imagination or does Santa now have a waistline? ;-) I'm liking the original colour of the outfit being revived. Merry Christmas Alan.
