POLICE investigating an alleged eBay scam have charged a man from Stroud.

Kevin Smith, 54, of The Bassetts, Cashes Green faces one charge of theft of £16,000 from an employee.

Officers have been investigating allegations that hand tools owned by Norman Precision were sold on the internet auction site under the username of “mybossisanumpty”.

Tools with carbide and diamond tips, appeared to have been auctioned off on the website.

Police initially arrested a man at Stroudwater Business Park, Stonehouse on August 16 then bailed him again while investigations continued.

Gloucestershire Constabulary confirmed last week that Smith has been charged with one count of theft from the firm which manufactures

high quality components for the aerospace, oil and gas, automotive, medical and defence industries.

Smith has been bailed to appear before magistrates next month.

This don't appear to be a scam, it's theft isn't it?
