Gloucestershire firefighters spent two hours rescuing a horse from a ditch in Minsterworth today

A HORSE was rescued by a total of 10 firefighters after it fell into a ditch in Minsterworth this morning.

The animal is recovering from the ordeal after specialist teams were called to the incident at Walmore Common shortly before 6.30am.

An animal rescue team, a special incident support unit, a fire engine and a boat were all involved in the rescue.

A Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “A total of 10 firefighters were at the incident.

“Crews worked quickly to rescue the horse which was then checked over by a vet at the scene.

“All appliances were detained at the scene for two hours.”
