A new group of high earning women in their 'naughty forties' are boosting nationwide sales in erotic products, according to a new study.
Sindies are Single Income Now Divorced, and are typically women with a high income, often with children, and may be casually dating several men.
This group has boosted sales with luxury lingerie brands, according to the study by Bluebella.
Newly single women between 35 and 50 have caused a 45 per cent surge sales with lingerie firms. Stocking and suspenders are up by 32 per cent, while sexy basques are up 28 per cent among Sindies.
A spokesperson for Bluebella said: "We have been delighted to watch the emergence of the Sindies for some time.
"These are women who know what they want and they are embracing their sensual lives with confidence and style.
"Melanie Sykes typifies the new Sindies. She has worked incredibly hard at the gym and with a body to die for she is embracing her sensuality far more ferociously than when she was one of our most successful models in the Nineties."
Bondage themed designs were the most popular brand among Sindies, with sales rising by 17 per cent.
The study also found that in Britain 65 per cent of divorces are initiated by women, and that Sindies also celebrate their freedom by throwing £90-a-head 'divorce parties.'
