THE VICTIM of an alleged stabbing has died.
This morning the Avon coroner's office confirmed it had been informed of the death of Martin Stokes, 30.
Mr Stokes was being treated for stab wounds at Frenchay Hospital, Bristol, since an incident on Monday, January 13.
Tributes are being made to Mr Stokes on Twitter, including from Gloucester professional snooker player Robert Milkins.
"RIP Martin stokes!" he tweeted. "So sad how you've been taken at such a young age,one of the few good guys and will be missed by so many!x"
Tony Poole, 51, of Melbourne Street East, Gloucester, has been charged twice with wounding with intent and was remanded in custody by magistrates last Thursday.
Poole is alleged to have stabbed Benjamin McGregor-Clark and Mr Stokes in Mr McGregor-Clark’s Nettleton Road, Gloucester home.
Police said Mr Stokes sadly died at around 11.50pm on Monday, January 20. The force also addressed false claims that Poole had died too.
"There have been rumours on social media that Anthony Poole has committed suicide in prison," said a force spokesman. "These rumours are not true and Poole remains in custody.
"Police are still eager to hear from anyone who was in the area or at the scene of the incident.
"Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 418 of January 13."
